Letter from the Recruitment Director

Going through the process of Panhellenic Recruitment can be overwhelming. Hear some words of advice from our lovely Recruitment Director, Lexa.

Dear Potential New Member,

On behalf of the entire Panhellenic community at Boston University, I would like to extend a warm welcome to Sorority Formal Recruitment 2020. As the Recruitment process may often seem confusing, and even a little overwhelming, we have put together this handbook geared toward Potential New Members (PNMs) like you. In this book you will find the answers to any questions or concerns you may have, descriptions of all of our amazing chapters, and space to take notes and reflect as you go through Recruitment. Joining a sorority, and the entire BU Panhellenic community, is honestly one of the best decisions I have ever made, and has truly shaped my college years. I have met women who inspire and challenge me to be the best version of myself at all times, and who I consider not only my sisters, but best friends. In all ten of our chapters, you will find women who achieve academic, philanthropic, and personal excellence every day. You will find women who are confident, driven, and ambitious. Most importantly, you will find women who believe in, love, and wholeheartedly support the sisterhoods of which they are a part.

As you go through the Recruitment process, I encourage you to take this time to focus on what you’re looking for from sorority life. Focus on what it is you are looking for in joining a chapter and a sisterhood. Expanding your network? A support system? Leadership opportunities? Allow yourself to make decisions based on what you feel when you walk into each party. Ask yourself which women you can see yourself traveling with, studying with, living with, and staying up until 4 in the morning talking with. Reflect on what values matter the most to you.

Remember to enjoy the Recruitment process as it is happening. Relax, have fun, and be yourself. Trust the process and be open to the countless possibilities it has to offer. Recruitment is a unique experience that allows you make connections, expand your social circle, and find a home within a large university. The Panhellenic community is so excited that you have chosen to join us, and we hope that in one of our ten incredible chapters you will find your letters for a lifetime!
